Paris Arc de Triomphe

Arc de Triomphe: activities and experiences with locals

Arc de Triomphe
One of Paris symbols along with the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe stands not only as a testimony of the battles won by the French army, but as one of the most representative and most popular French icons in the world. Its design, inspired by the Roman Arch of Titus, includes all the names of the battles won by Napoleon's armies, carved in its four pillars. In the center of the arch is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a monument with a permanently lit torch that pays tribute to the unidentified French army soldiers from World War I. The Arc de Triomphe is 50 meters high and visitors can access to its terraces to enjoy beautiful city views, where you will appreciate Champs Elysees in its full splendor. To reach the top you need to pay an entry fee and climb the 286 steps of the staircase leading to the terraces. Inside the Arc you can visit a small museum where you will get to understand the arch`s construction process and its history. In the Arc de Triomphe converge the main avenues of the city, making it a meeting point for locals and tourists and place of celebrations.
