Grand Palais des Beaux-Arts: unique experiences with locals

Grand Palais des Beaux-Arts
The Grand Palais des Beaux-Arts (Great Palace of Fine Arts) or Grand Palais (Grand Palace) is located on Champs Elysees in the heart of the French capital, close to other touristic landmarks, bars and restaurants. The palace was built for the Universal Exhibition of 1900, was dedicated to the glory of French art and in 2000 the building was declared a French historical monument. The Grand Palais was built to house the most important artistic events in the city, and has a huge space of almost 240 meters long which was used as a military hospital during World War I. One of the hallmarks of this mega construction is its huge glass roof admired by millions of tourists who visit this venue every year. Today the Grand Palais hosts over 40 events a year with very varied themes including fine arts, fashion, photography, music, dance, film, theater and even sports. In recent years the building has been closely linked to the fashion world because Chanel organizes many of its fashion shows there. It is a spectacular building that is worth seeing at least from the outside to appreciate the splendor of its architecture.
